Le Touessrok Mauritius

Dream move for Shangri –La in takeover of Le Touessrok

It’s been a momentous week for Shangri-La, one of the world’s foremost hotel groups, as it acquired a 26% stake in Le Touessrok luxury hotel from Sun Resorts Hotel Group.

The move, completed on Monday 16th June, 2014 will come into effect in August later this year when the flagship hotel will be re-launched as the Shangri-La Le Touessrok Hotel and Spa. Shangri-La is all set to takeover management duties at the prestigious resort in Mauritius.

Greg Dogan, president and CEO of Shangri-La is delighted with the merger: “Mauritius is a jewel in the Indian Ocean with white sand beaches. We are excited about the opportunity to invest in and manage a property such as Le Touessrok Resort, which has a rich history and legendary reputation for superb service”.

A dream luxury holiday combination

Le Touessrok Hotel is a prestigious acquisition. The flagship resort has three luxury overwater villas, 200 guestrooms and suites, 2 private islands and a world-renown 18-hole golf course designed by Bernhard Langer.

Sun Resorts will retain a healthy 74% stake in Le Touessrok and CEO Philippe Cassis believes that the venture: “…will enable this unique resort to achieve its full potential and pave the way for a successful and mutually beneficial collaboration for many years to come”.

Shangri-La already manages two other resorts in the Indian Ocean region and possesses a total allocation of 34,000 rooms globally. But undoubtedly, Le Touessrok, member of the “Leading Hotels of the World Organisation” is set to become the jewel in the crown.
